Application Session Sharing in Oracle APEX | Ontoor Concepts #5

What is Session Sharing?

ORACLE APEX has the ability to share sessions between multiple applications. Session sharing allows users to log in once and access multiple APEX applications without having to re-enter their login credentials each time they switch between applications. This is particularly useful when users need to access several applications that share data or functionality.

Once you have configured your applications to use the same authentication scheme, you must enable session sharing in each application. To do this, navigate to the “Shared Components” section of the APEX interface and select “Session Sharing.” From there, you can configure session-sharing settings for each application. When session sharing is enabled,

APEX creates a shared cookie that is used to authenticate the user across multiple applications. This cookie is stored on the client side and contains a session identifier that is used to identify the user’s session on the server side.

In summary, session sharing in Oracle APEX allows users to log in once and access multiple applications without having to re-enter their login credentials each time they switch between applications. This can improve the user experience and increase productivity when working with multiple APEX applications.
